custom website design

Hello! My name is Jillian and I customize Squarespace websites. I specialize in working with artists and small businesses. And… I love my job.

The idea of translating all the facets of your work into a website, or redesigning a site created many years ago, can feel daunting. I am here to help you dream up what your site could be, and then break the process of (re)buildilng it down into small steps. In just a few weeks, you’ll have a well-designed, easy to use website that looks and feels like you. I can teach you how to maintain it yourself, or remain available to make updates as needed.

Your website is the first place people go to learn about you and your work, and the best chance you have to tell your story. Drawing on eight years of web design experience and my background as a theater director, I can help you tell that story. Together we will clarify the message you want to share, identify the audience that needs to hear it, and bridge the gap between the two.

Questions, or ready to get started? Send me an email at jillianjetton@gmail.com. I look forward to hearing from you!

  • After meeting with you to discuss your goals, timeline, and budget, I will lead you through a process that can include:

    • choosing the Squarespace template that will work best for your site

    • identifying the colors, fonts, and graphics that match your aesthetic

    • photo and video editing to get assets in the right format for upload

    • drafting or copy editing existing text

    • securing a domain, or connecting your existing domain to the new site

    • optimizing your site for SEO and social media sharing

    • training you make updates to your site, or remaining available on an hourly basis to make them myself

  • Every website is unique, and the timeline depends in large part on how much prep is needed to get your materials organized and ready for upload. Once those materials are ready, the website design, revision, and launch process typically takes about 3-4 weeks.

  • You can generally expect a custom website to cost $1500-3000 for artists, $2500-4000 for non-profits, and $3500-5000 for for-profit companies. The cost will vary depending on the specific needs of your site. I also offer a single-page site deal for $500 (artists), $750 (non-profits), or $1250 (for-profits). All website projects include two rounds of feedback, SEO customization, domain set up, and a Squarespace tutorial.

In addition to these base rates, I provide the following services on an hourly basis: image resizing, editing, and curation, copywriting and editing, CV review, and business card/postcard design.

As a Squarespace Circle Member I can get you access to discounts on the monthly or annual subscription. While Squarespace is a slightly more expensive platform than its competitors, the lifelong security guarantee and design capability is well worth the extra cost.

  • “It was a well-respected colleague who recommended Jillian to me, and from first glance at her portfolio, I understood why. The breadth and creativity of her work was immediately evident. And throughout our collaboration, Jillian impressed me with her professionalism. Our conversations were efficient and productive; she asked thoughtful, precise questions to ensure she understood my aesthetic, brand, and goals for my website; she created a clear timeline and set of objectives. There was little for me to do once she got started except respond positively to her ideas and suggestions. She had homed in on my vision and made it more refined and exciting. The work she did was everything I wanted. The process moved smoothly and quickly, and each milestone was completed ahead of time. It was an absolute pleasure to work with Jillian, and I offer her my highest and most enthusiastic recommendation.” – Patricia M.
